🌸 My Journey to Dance

Bharatanatyam is the poetry of the body, the song of the soul, and the expression of the spirit.

-Rukmini Devi Arundale

👶✨ Rukmini Arundale’s words capture what this journey means to me. My mom often tells me that I was very late to walk—two years and three months before I finally took my first step. But even before I could walk, I was already dancing. I kicked to the beat of music before I was born, and as a baby I swayed in the arms of my mother and grandmother whenever they sang or played rhythms. Though I was shy and hesitant with strangers, music always drew me out. Looking back, I realize that Bharatanatyam was not something I stumbled upon by chance; it has been woven into me from the very beginning.

🌷👩‍👧 I am truly grateful to my mom, who not only identified my passion early on but also nurtured it with care. I am even more grateful to Dina Aunty, who first introduced me to Bollywood dance when I was just five years old. She gave me the confidence to step onto a stage, and that foundation led me naturally to Bharatanatyam. Before I even turned six, I began my training at Kruti Dance Academy—one of the best places I could have hoped for. Being placed in the right environment from such a young age has made all the difference. It gave me a space to grow, to learn discipline, and to discover how deeply dance could shape me as a person.
